This project was a styled shoot organised and conceived by Polly at Fern and Field, inspired by a painting Bartolomeo Guidobono, Allegory of Spring, a love of botany and some wonderful family heirlooms. The brief was easy to get excited about. Natural and loose arrangements of locally sourced blooms fitted the theme of this styled shoot. I used various tones of purple, inspired by the season and availability at my local fresh flower farm.
I designed, on location, a botanical bouquet using locally sourced magnolia flowers, aquilegia, lilac and clematis and added some wild honeysuckle and ferns, I foraged from the woodland at Fern and Field, along with some home grown hosta leaves and a silvery, lilac succulent. The bouquet complimented the aquilegias placed in the models loose braided hair and looked lush against the Fox gown from Rue de Seine.
I adore wisteria, we had one that grew up the side of our family home when I was young, so when I had the chance to use it in the shoot it had to be done. Hire Love provided a beautiful chair which was just screaming to be adorned with the dainty purple and lilac flowers of the wisteria.
A change of hair style later in the day called for a change of flowers, we opted to create a flower crown using alliums, aquilegias, clematis, a succulent and some ferns. Not only did it look pretty but it added an element of fun.
For the shots of the beautifully designed stationery I strategically placed single flower heads and some petals of the clematis.
My puppy, Gin, also got in on the action wearing a flower collar of the clematis.
The final shots of the day, saw our model floating some of the single flower heads into the lake at Fern and Field.
I loved this shoot so much and the results were amazing, Rock My Wedding agreed, and featured the shots on their fantastic wedding blog.
